Are Times Really as Good as They Keep Telling Us?

We are told, often, that most people want President Clinton to remain in office although they consider him a reprehensible creep. They're ready to overlook his numerous shortcomings because the economy is good.

No one questions that the economy is wonderful. After all, stock prices are strong and corporate earnings are high. It is interesting to me that most people continually repeat that the "economy is good" blurb though they have no basis for this opinion other than the fact that they are constantly being told so. Hasn't anyone noticed the number of homeless people? The economy isn't very good for them. And how about the fact that Americans now have virtually no savings and credit card debt is astronomical?
